Evan's Story

On November 7, 2023, at 9 a.m., Evan's mom (Nicole) went to the doctor for her monthly check up at almost 16 weeks. They could not find a heartbeat, and, sadly, an ultrasound confirmed that the baby had died at 13 weeks. That night, Nicole and her husband, Nate, went in to start the induction process. On November 8, 2023, at 4:15 p.m., Nicole's baby was delivered. It was then that they found out the baby was a boy. They decided to name their son Evan James.

After Evan was born, the hospital gave him a blanket, hat, and wrap. All of these items had been made by hand and donated. The hospital took pictures of Evan in his wrap and hat. When Evan was born, he weighed 22 grams, less than an ounce, and was 4 inches long. Because he was so small, his hat was too big. While Nicole didn't mind that at all, it did give her the idea that became Evan's Box. She wanted to make and donate items in several sizes so that each baby would have something in the perfect size.
"Evan looked so cozy in his wrap, and I want to make sure hospitals have more than enough items to provide for any other angel babies." - Evan's mom, Nicole
